Fall 2009 Results
Just Plain Nasty
TUFF - Norman, OK - October 24-25
TUFF split up into two teams for this tournament, TUFF X (the Bros) and TUFF Y (the Hipsters). Both teams played well on Saturday, with TUFF X going undefeated (4-0) and TUFF Y going 3-1, with their only loss against Kansas State.
On Sunday, TUFF X and TUFF Y played each other in the quarterfinals match. The Bros was able to go on an initial 3-0 run in that game, but the Hipsters fought back and ended up with a comeback victory, sending them into the semifinals. They played in the semifinals against the OU-alumni team, and ended up losing 10-9 in a very exciting match.
Overall results: TUFF X - 5th, TUFF Y - 3rd
Harvest Moon
Graze - Fayetteville, AR - October 31-November 1
In their first tournament of the year, Graze sent a split squad. Both teams struggled early on, but showed improvement as the day progressed. One of the teams lost in tough games against Nebraska, Ole Miss, and Drurry on Saturday.
On Sunday, that team beat Drurry and ended up playing against Sam Houston in the Chumpionship, where unfortunately they lost. The other Graze team ended up losing to Sam Houston in the semi's for the Chumpionship.
Texas A&M Tournament
Graze - College Station, TX - November 7-8
This was probably Graze's best tournament of the year. On Saturday, they lost early to Texas A&M A, but were able to rebound and beat UNT X. They then lost to the Texas A&M Alumni team, and played well against LSU, but couldn't handle their Zone D and lost.
On Sunday, Graze beat Texas A&M B (15-3), and edged out UNT X a second time. They then beat out Houston to claim the Chumpionship.
Houston HoDown
Graze - Houston, TX - November 14-15
Graze split up into two teams for this tournament, Graze X and Graze Y. On Saturday, Graze X went 0-4, with tough losses against Houston, Rice, Sam Houston, and Texas State B. Graze Y also had a difficult time, going 1-3, but managed to edge out a win against Baylor in their third game of the day.
Graze X lost in a tough game early against Texas A&M B (6-7), and then beat Baylor to finish 13th place overall. Graze Y lost to Texas State B in the semifinals for the Chumpionship and finished T-11th overall.
CCC
TUFF - Chattanooga, TN - December 5-6
TUFF had a difficult Saturday, with losses against South Florida (7-13), Georgia Tech (11-13), and Clemson (11-12). Fortunately, they came back to win their last two games against Purdue (13-10) and North Carolina (13-12).
TUFF began Sunday with an exciting game against Michigan, who is always a fun team to play. Michigan was able to edge out a victory, and so TUFF's second game was against Sarasota. TUFF Beat Sarasota, and went on to play Georgia Southern for their last game of the tournament. Georgia Southern beat out TUFF 15-9, giving TUFF a 14th place finish overall.
